The National Autonomous University of Mexico has been rated as one of the world’s top 200 institutions of higher learning. This listing comes in recognition of the scope of its endeavors, the quality of its academic research programs and human resources.

The task of upholding and improving the UNAM’s stature involves both its infrastructure and its people.

During the 2009-2010 school year, the UNAM’s student enrollment ascended to 314, 557, served by 35, 057 professors, of which 11, 536 work full-time.

The UNAM can boast of 3,442 professors enrolled in the National Researchers System. Of all academic articles published by Mexican researchers, 35% are authored by UNAM scholars.

In 2009, nearly 8,500 artistic and cultural events were held for the enjoyment of 2,490,000 persons.

That same year, a total of 303,888 persons benefitted from ongoing education across a broad range of fields in courses, workshops, seminars and diploma programs.

Currently, the National Autonomous University of Mexico enjoys national and international status. The UNAM consists of six campuses and seventeen schools in the Mexico City metro area and across twenty-four states, which are served by important regional development poles in Michoacan, Queretaro, Morelos, Baja California and Yucatan. The UNAM operates foreign headquarters in the US cities of San Antonio, Los Angeles, Chicago and Seattle, as well as in Gatineau,Canada and Madrid, Spain.
