The National Autonomous University of Mexico offerseighty-five undergraduate degrees across 159 plans of study, imparted in eighteen faculties, three national schools and fiveforeign departments. These degrees can be attained in the full-time system or through the open and distance learning modalities.

At its founding in 1910, the National University consisted of the following national schools:Law, staffed by eighteen professors and with an enrollment of 229, Medicine with fifty-four professors and 443 students, Engineering with twenty-seven professors and 232 students, Fine Arts (Architecture) with twenty-one professors and thirty-one students and Advanced Studies with forty-three students.

Currently, the UNAM serves 179 052 students in undergraduate degree programs,, 1 024 in vocational studies and, 746 in propaedeutic studies at the National School of Music.

The undergraduate degree offering is organized under four broad areas of knowledge: Sciences; Biological Science and Health; Social Sciences; and Arts and Humanities
