University Board of Regents
The University Board of Regents is the highest University authority and consists of the Rector, who presides; the Secretary General of the University, who acts as Board Secretary, and the deans of the faculties, schools and institutes, who hold ex officio membership. The Board is complemented by elected representatives from among professors and students of the faculties, schools and research institutes; one representative from the extension centers; four postgraduate student trustees and one representative from the administration. All seats on the board are provided with alternates. Of the Board’s 229 trustees, 141 enjoy voting rights.
The Board is tasked with making the rules and regulations that improve the University’s organization, operations and academics.
The University Board of Regents owes its existence to the Organic Law of 1945 currently in effect.
