The Old School of Economics Print
Antigua Escuela de Economía

República de Cuba N° 92
Centro Histórico
06020, México D.F.

Occupying a flank of Santo Domingo square in the heart of the Historic Center of Mexico City, the Casa Ortiz de la Huerta housed the original National School of Economics between 1938 and 1954. Noteworthy for its renaissance style and exceptional elevator (one of only two in the country), the building stands as a testament to the birth of formal studies in economy in Mexico.

From 1983 to 1988, the building housed several educational institutions and was acquired by the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Economics, which donated it to the National Autonomous University of Mexico. It was later returned under a 25-year commodatum agreement for the purpose of remodeling./p>
